Born in Belgrade, Serbia, she moved to the United States in 2014, and in 2018 earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from San Francisco Art Institute, where she also received The Bronze Roller Award, the highest achievement in the printmaking department of study. Currently in Brooklyn, Bojana had her work projected on the ZAZ10 Gallery billboard in Times Square, NY, has exhibited work in American Bookbinders Museum, Root Division, 1890 Bryant Street Studios, Diego Rivera Gallery, SFAI Print Gallery, Art Gallery at the Orinda Library, and various alternative spaces; as well as The Russian House, Glasnik Gallery, and Museum of History of Yugoslavia in Belgrade, Serbia. Her work can be found in the collection of the Anne Bremer Memorial Library, San Francisco Art Institute and various personal collections.

“Utilizing the process of printmaking, I create direct and sincere work. Issues concerning the construction of home, feelings of belonging and being grounded while at the same time displaced, are the dominant themes. Love pain, élan, melancholy, yearning, sentiment, and bittersweet longing with all its bliss and sadness are the essence and motivation behind the practice; fantasies of utopias constructed from ideas and practices of existing, past and present heterotopias. Working and creating allows me to unobtrusively rebuild and ground my ideals through my pieces, to have a safe playground and dwell on the memory while transforming it. Conceptual methodology I use is consistent, even though certain pieces are carried out through traditional printmaking methods, while some take on more modern techniques of photography and video work. This process creates a space that captures layers of identity and its intersectionality, as is reflected from self. The images are being transformed so that they can be present as a new cohesive whole. Additionally, distributive and accessible aspects of printmaking allows me to share the original experience with many people as a political act of love.”
